Is the dairy industry portrayal the reality or a masquerade?

Congratulations to Chevy Rendell, PhD student in the English Department, whose essay “‘From Here to Everywhere’: Foucault, Fonterra and Richie McCaw” has just been published in Animal Studies Journal 9.1.

The text is based on a presentation Chevy gave at least year’s Decolonizing Animals Conference, hosted by UC’s New Zealand Centre for Human-Animal Studies, and it won the Denise Russell Postgraduate Prize for Animal Ethics.

Witty, incisive and moving, Chevy’s essay explores the intersecting human, environmental and animal costs of the NZ dairy industry, taking its cue from Richie McCaw’s participation in an expensive recent advertising campaign.
