Art History lecturer discusses art made by Japanese POWs

Associate Professor Richard Bullen was interviewed on RNZ’s Morning Report about his current research on art made by Japanese prisoners of war held at Featherston during World War II.

He recently co-authored an article on art made by Japanese pows and civilian internees held in camps throughout Australasia.

Richard has tracked down over 300 items made by the Japanese held at Featherston, including fine mah-jong sets, and relief sculptures of Japanese people and scenes.
