Spanish dance project 2020

The Spanish Programme at this University, acknowledging the usefulness of dance as an effective second language learning tool, and in order to foster the collaboration and advocacy for the Spanish language in New Zealand while giving wide visibility to the University of Canterbury, coordinated for its fifth year in a row the Spanish Dance Video Project.

This year’s project, which involved Spanish language teachers and students of 20 schools from all over New Zealand, including the University of Canterbury, was very successful.

The feedback has been awesome. In spite everything we have had to face this year, Spanish students and teachers had a lot of fun dancing to the song Girasoles by the Spanish singer Rozalén, and the result was a wonderful video that highlights the significance of collaboration and teamwork.

Spanish lecturer Victoria Escaip of the Spanish programme organised this fun way to inspire learning Spanish.
