On 20th of October, the School of Music DMA candidate Made Kartawan led UC Gamelan Ensemble in his second recital, at the TSB Space in Tūranga.
The evening featured two premieres of experimental compositions from Made as well as number of traditional pieces from Bali.
The concert concluded with the first ever live-streaming collaboration with a dancer from Bali and an ensemble abroad.
“Because the ensemble follows the dancer’s movements, we were able coordinate our music to his movements in realtime” recalls Senior Lecturer and course coordinator, Justin DeHart.
