History lecturer appointed as Editor to new “Power” section of Medieval Encyclopedia

Dr Chris Jones (History) has been appointed to the board of the new Routledge Medieval Encyclopedia Online as Editor for “Power”.

At approximately 100,000 words, the “Power” section of this new project, under the overall direction of General Editor Dr Hannele Klemettilä-McHale, will comprise 30 articles exploring various forms of power in the period 1100 to 1550.

The section is intended to range widely, and will include discussion of the diversity of state forms; ideology and symbolic expressions of power; administration and exercise of power; forms of domination; and forms of government and state formation.

Dr Jones brings his particular interests in empire and tyranny to the project.
