COMS students try career speed-dating

Student club MCSoc and the COMS department ran a careers panel on 1 June.

Third-year Bachelor of Communication students ended the semester with a careers panel of some of the more senior communication professionals in Ōtautahi Christchurch. The speed-dating event was designed to introduce students to the range of professional options the degree gives them and the panelists said they were impressed by some sharp questions and the students’ enthusiasm.

The event was organised mostly by students Nina Hegarty and Hannah Perry-Purchas from the new club, MCSoc.

The panelists were South Island editor for Stuff, Kamala Heyman, head of communication at Waimakariri District Council Alistair Gray, founding partner at the Plato Creative agency John Plato and TradeMe’s head of communication Millie Silvester.
