CI: Culture on the road

Over the month of July, the team at the Confucius Institute at the University of Canterbury (CIUC) were thrilled to be back on the road, to deliver our Culture on the Road programme to both Aidanfield Christian School and Ararira Springs Primary School.

Chinese Culture on the Road is a one-day or half-day mini cultural fair to promote multicultural awareness, increase the understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture, and stimulate interest in Chinese language study amongst Christchurch school students in Canterbury.

First visiting Aidanfield Christian School on Friday 1st July, the CIUC team had a great day out teaching students elements of Chinese culture, from Tai Chi Fan, Chinese Calligraphy, Mahjong, and Go Game, to Game of Throwing Sandbags, Chopsticks and Marbles and more.

The CIUC team then had another fantastic day out on Friday 29th July – this time visiting Ararira Springs Primary School out in Lincoln. Delighted to share Chinese culture with students through Tai Chi Fan, Chinese Games, Paper-Cutting and other fun activities, we are thrilled to be back on the road bringing these experiences to our local schools.
