DSC Speaker series: Maru Nihoniho

This term we kicked off our Digital Screen Industry Speaker Series with game designer, producer and founder of Metia Interactive, Maru Nihoniho (MNZM).

Maru shared about Māori storytelling in game development with our Digital Screen students, and her inspiring journey of how she got to where she is today.
Maru has published several Māori games, Sparx, to teach rangatahi how to manage depression, Māori Pā Wars, a strategic tower defence game, Tākaro to teach rangatahi about coding concepts and Guardian Maia, interactive fiction that follows the journey of a Māori woman through a dystopian New Zealand.

An expert in the storytelling realm! Thank you for joining us Maru, we were delighted to host you here at the University of Canterbury!
