Philosophy PhD student successfully completes thesis

Many congratulations to Kyle Gibson for successfully completing his PhD thesis on “Kantian Constitutivism: Problems and Prospects”.

Kantian Constitutivism: Problems and Prospects, by Kyle Gibson

“With the help of the UC philosophy department I wrote my PhD thesis on a recent development in moral philosophy, Kantian constitutivism.

Kantian constitutivism is a new approach to explaining why meaning exists and how we ought to live our lives.

In my thesis I develop a solution to a prominent problem with this new approach and explore the implications it has for deontological ethics.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time working on this thesis, I was lucky to have the opportunity to engage with one of the most promising areas of development in contemporary philosophy: thank you to the UC philosophy department for this opportunity and for supporting me throughout my research.

For an explanation of constitutivism, a solution to one of the problems it faces, and an exploration of the implications it has for morality, please find my thesis in the university archive :)”
