NCRE seminars “New Directions and New Leadership 2020”

From 14-21 August the NCRE hosted three European diplomatic visitors who spoke at the continuation of the Covid-19 interrupted Friday seminar series – “New Directions and New Leadership 2020”.

First to speak was Ambassador Mira Woldberg of the Netherlands, followed by the British High Commissioner Laura Clarke with Irish Ambassador Peter Ryan concluding this series of six diplomatic talks in 2020.

Each gave their unique perspectives of a range of common challenges – Covis-19, the EU27 after Brexit and the current state of New Zealand’s negotiations for Free Trade Agreements with both the EU and the UK. Despite Level 2 restrictions, upwards of 30 people attended either in person or via Zoom.

Following the seminar, the diplomats were happy to share their thoughts with students from the NCRE’s MEURO class (pictured with Ambassadors Woldberg and Ryan).

The diplomatic seminar series was chaired by Dr. Serena Kelly (picture with Laura Clarke).
