Sociology in the 21st Century: Well-being, Engagement and Sustainability

“On Wednesday and Thursday  24th and 25th November, Dr Tiina Vares and Associate Prof Ruth McManus from Sociology, LSAP’s, CoA co-hosted the SAANZ annual conference on “Sociology in the 21st Century: Well-being, Engagement and Sustainability”.

Held on Lincoln’s campus, the face to face conference combined various networks of social science researchers from around the country spanning death studies to agrifood with just about  everything in between!

Highlights included keynote Dr Stefanie Rixecker, the current CEO of Environment Canterbury and our own Professor Bronwyn Hayward’s keynote on “Beyond ‘behaviour change’ Challenges for social science in chaotic futures’ and Associate Professor Ruth McManus accepting her Award for Exceptional Service from the Sociological Association of Aotearoa (New Zealand).

Overall the conference was a very successful inter-institutional collaboration and good fun too!
