Justin DeHart album release

This Friday, 10 March, Associate Professor Justin DeHart releases Ring: The Complete Percussion Solos  of John Bergamo on Rattle Records. The late John Bergamo was a teacher and mentor of DeHart at California Institute of the Arts from 2002-2004. Bergamo is celebrated for his innovated compositions and for his wide range of skills as a percussionist. One of the most unusual sounds on the album is from the track On the Edge, which utilises a huge 747 jet engine cowling. The cowling is laid flat and played with the performer standing inside of it, using various implements to excite the large aluminium object. The album includes works created between 1960-2000 and features solos on timpani, vibraphone, snare drum, multi-percussion and marimba. The recordings are the result of ten years of research into Bergamo’s music.

You can find Ring streaming on Spotify etc. and CDs/hi-res digital files are available for order now: https://rattleclassical.bandcamp.com/album/ring-the-complete-solo-percussion-works-of-john-bergamo
