NCRE Doctoral workshop convened in Taipei

The National Centre for Research on Europe (NCRE) has just completed the last of its series of HUI-EU workshops for early-stage doctoral students, funded with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The workshop, organised by Dr Mathew Doidge and Dr Serena Kelly, alongside Associate Professor Gosia Klatt (University of Melbourne), brought 10 students from around the Asia-Pacific to Taipei.

Hosted by the European Union Centre in Taiwan (EUTW) at the National Taiwan University (NTU), the workshop gave participants the opportunity to share their research, improve key skills, and form connections with other students working on topics connected to Europe. During their time in Taipei, students were received by the New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office in cooperation with the European Economic and Trade Office.

For the NCRE, the HUI-EU project has allowed staff to strengthen engagement with colleagues around the region, and to contribute to the robustness of European studies in the Asia-Pacific. Thanks also to our colleagues in the Faculty of Law, who sent a strong contingent to the workshop.
