Media and Communication Cooperates with the Community of Engineers: “Communication Matters” Training for Mid-Career Engineers

On November 29, the Media and Communication Department team – academic staff Natalia Chaban, Zita Joyce, Donald Matheson, Conan Young and a PhD student Nohah Forde – conducted an inaugural training on effective communication skills “Communication Matters” for mid-career engineers from Christchurch.  This training came to life after the Media & Comms Department was approached by the The Class 69, a group of civil engineers who completed their UC studies in 1969. Following the consultation with The Class 69, the training designed by the UC Media & Communication Department team addressed the key questions – what skills are needed to navigate complex media environments and how to enhance skills in understanding and informing others in the engineering profession in New Zealand.
