Digital Humanities Research Network: Obsessing with Cartography

Join us on Thursday 29 February at 1 pm in Logie 613, for a short talk by mapmaker David Garcia (he/they), in which he shares parts of his PhD thesis on digital geography together with reflections about his cartographic practice and critique over the past decade. In particular, the mapmaker will focus on map elements we take for granted – monsters, frontiers, legends – and encourage the listeners to reflect on how such iconographies form part of larger colonial ideological constellations that continue to heavily influence us today, even and especially in the networked and digital age.
