‘Regions and Security Complexes in the Indo-Pacific’ workshop held at Waseda University, Japan

Nicholas Ross Smith, a Senior Research Fellow at the National Centre for Research (NCRE) on Europe, recently participated in the ‘Regions and Security Complexes in the Indo-Pacific’ workshop held at Waseda University, Japan. Nicholas’ participation was linked to the ‘EU in the Indo-Pacific’ (EUIP) Jean Monnet Network, an EU-funded 27 partner three-year project which is being run by NCRE.

At the workshop, participants discussed how to best understand the changing geopolitics of the Indo-Pacific, with perspectives being gauged from Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and the EU. The workshop will lead to a book to be published in 2026 with Nicholas contributing a chapter.
