Faculty of Arts 3 Minute Thesis competition

The 3 Minute Thesis competition is a great event for thesis students to get involved in, not only for the chance to practice their presentation skills, but also for the chance to win cash. 3MT is an entertaining live event where research students present their research in no more than three minutes with only one visual slide. This year’s competition will be held in person without pre-recorded videos.

1st prize $1000

2nd prize $500

3rd prize $300

The Arts heat will be held in the afternoon of 25 July in James Logie 613 (exact start time to be announced). Save the date in your calendar if you’d like to attend and please promote to thesis students. Prof Jeanette King (Assoc Dean Research) will chair the judges’ panel. Full information is available on the Arts Postgraduate Learn page and on Te Kura Tāura’s 3MT page.

Students who are interested in competing can register here: https://forms.office.com/r/knUv4h6R6g. Those enrolled in a thesis of at least 90 points are eligible to compete. Doctoral students who have not yet completed the confirmation milestone can now compete in the Arts heat and win prizes but won’t be able to proceed to the UC final. Winners from each faculty will go through to the UC 3MT final at the Research Student Showcase.
