Arts 3MT competition winners

The Arts 3MT competition took place  Thursday 25 July, and these are the winners:

1st place and $1000: Anna Christoforou, PhD candidate in European Studies

2nd place and $500: Brittany Ogden-Travis, PhD candidate in Media & Communication (on Zoom)

3rd place and $300: Georgia Williams, PhD candidate in Media & Communication

 

A special thank you to the panel of judges, which consisted of Professor Jeanette King (Panel Chair), Associate Professor Richard Bullen and Dr Milenko Petrovic.

The full list of presentations was as follows:

  • Johnny Lingshi Guo from History with “Home on the Horizon: Polish Immigrants to New Zealand Between 1981 and 1998”
  • Mia Angeline from Media & Communication with “Democracy at Risk: Fighting Back with Digital Literacies”
  • Brittany Ogden-Travis from Media & Communication with “Listening to children in Aotearoa, New Zealand.”
  • Anna Christoforou from NCRE with “The murky ethics of bordering technologies”
  • Georgia Mackenzie Williams from Media & Communication with “Finding flourishment: Daily wellbeing mobile applications and their ability to support young adults in New Zealand’s daily wellbeing.”

Our top two will advance to the UC final which takes place at the Research Student Showcase on Wednesday 14th July. Register now if you’d like to attend. The Showcase will feature not only the 3MT final, but also Visualise Your Thesis and Exhibit Your Thesis postgrad competitions.
