Media Training workshop to build camera-fronting skills: 15 October

New media training workshop to build camera-fronting skills

(available to the first five applicants)

The Programme

Overcome the challenge of speaking on camera with our practical workshop designed for UC academics. Even the most confident lecturers can feel awkward or tongue-tied when filmed by a news crew, but this session will help you build public communication skills and confidence. Join us to enhance your media presence and communicate your research with clarity and confidence on camera!

What to expect

  • Personalised Coaching: Limited to max. 5 participants for tailored feedback.
  • Skill Building: Refine your messaging and practice on-camera delivery.
  • Supportive Environment: Gain experience in a friendly setting, perfect for both beginners and those needing a refresher.

Workshop highlights

  • Key message preparation
  • Tips on tone, voice, body language, appearance, and background
  • Practical TV interview experience with feedback

Prerequisite

Completion of the ‘Intro to Media Training’ workshop (see DevelopMe for next session: Sign-up for Intro into Media Training (canterbury.ac.nz) – Thur 3 Oct 10am-noon) or prior media training is recommended.

For more information or to request media training or advice, contact UC External Relations Lead, Margaret Agnew.

The video workshop is a way to get experience in a safe, encouraging small group and it’s no risk as the video doesn’t go anywhere. It’s just for you to build confidence.
