The Department of Media and Communication has brokered an MOU between UC and the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ) to foster collaboration in the field of public relations and communication.
The MOU, signed in May, aims to strengthen ties between academia and the professional sector through a range of collaborative efforts, including student awards, guest teaching, workshops and professional development events. As part of the agreement, PRINZ will sponsor the PRINZ Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in PR & Communications for a top-performing final-year Bachelor of Communication student.
PRINZ CEO Susanne Martin says the institute is “delighted and excited” by the establishment of the MOU with UC.
“As an integral part of our strategic plan, providing support and guidance to the next generation of professional and ethical public relations and communications practitioners is viewed by our members as an essential component of our organisation’s offering.
“The engagement, enthusiasm and shared vision of the team at University of Canterbury and PRINZ to realise this partnership has only reinforced for us that this is a tertiary institution with whom we will collaboratively deliver tangible benefits for students and members alike.”
