The Latin America & Spain Film Festival (LASFF) is a vibrant cultural event showcasing contemporary films from across Latin America and Spain. Each year, the UC Spanish Programme, in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in New Zealand and Viva la Vida Events and Projects, brings this festival to Christchurch, offering audiences an authentic window into the diverse cultures and stories of Latin America and Spain.
Now in its 23rd edition in New Zealand, the 2025 festival was proudly hosted by the University of Canterbury and the Christchurch Art Gallery from 22 to 26 October. The programme featured films from Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Cuba, delighting audiences with a rich selection of contemporary cinema. The Colombian Ambassador, Her Excellency Ms Isaura Duarte, visited UC and presented the Colombian film, Dear Gentlemen, screened at the University on Thursday 23 October.
As a free community event, LASFF continues to strengthen cultural connections and celebrate the creativity and diversity of various Latin American countries and Spain.
