UC Media and Communication Continues Collaboration with Engineers: Practice-Oriented Vourse “Communicate matters”

On September 24, UC Media and Communication team: Dr Zita Joyce, Professor Natalia Chaban, Professor Donald Matheson, Conan Young, and Nohah Forde (with the help of an intern Elias Redpath) delivered for the second time a one-day practice-oriented course “Communication Matters” for engineers  who aim to improve their techniques for effective interactions with government, business, professions, a variety of media channels, and the public. Experts from the University of Canterbury designed this course course for practicing engineers to navigate complex media environments and enhance skills in understanding and informing others. The course bridges silos of contrasting interests, through interactive activities and group work, exposing you to differing real-life scenarios.  This course is the result of the collaboration between UC Media and Communication Department and The Class of 69 — a group of civil engineers who completed their UC studies in 1969. The course, supported by The Class 69, is their contribution to the future of the engineering profession in New Zealand.
