NCRE roundtable talk “Putin, Ukraine, Europe…the World. Is there a way out?”

The NCRE roundtable talk “Putin, Ukraine, Europe…the World. Is there a way out?” was held on Friday 4 March.

NCRE Director Professor Martin Holland moderated the talk which featured four experts in East European, post-communist and post-Soviet and Russian Studiesthe NCRE’s Dr Milenko Petrovic and Dr Nickolas Smith as well as Emeritus Professor Graeme Gill, University of Sydney and Associate Professor Dr James Headley, University of Otago.

The discussion focused on the causes of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and its possible outcomes and consequences for Ukraine, Russia, Europe and the world.

The event attracted high interest of students and scholars from UC and other academic institutions in New Zealand and Australia.

There were forty participants who followed the discussion and asked questions via Zoom and twenty more attended in person, in the NCRE seminar room.
