On 25 May, the South Island finals of the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Speech Competition were held at the University of Canterbury, bringing together more than 50 contestants from primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions across the region. “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Speech Competition is a flagship program for Chinese language learners globally to showcase their Chinese language skills and share their enthusiasm for Chinese culture. There are three stages of competition, locally, nationally and internationally.
This event is organised by the Confucius Institute at the University of Canterbury. Professor Kevin Watson, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Dr. Graham Wise, Director of International Development at the University of Canterbury attended this event and presented prizes for the winners.
