On May 15, students of COMS 330 Communication in Context (a core course within the Bachelor of Communication programme) presented their original social media campaigns to the teams of diplomats from the Embassy of Germany to New Zealand and the Embassy of Germany to New Zealand. Students, teamed in small groups, developed ideas and recommendations for the Embassies and delivered them in highly successful, professional presentations. Campaigns for the German Embassy targeted digital diplomacy communications during Fieldays 2026 in Hamilton, where Germany will have its own stall in June this year. Students’ campaigns will inform the Embassy’s actions in raising the visibility of collaboration between German and New Zealand agricultural businesses. Campaigns for the French Embassy contribute to the Embassy’s digital diplomacy on International Space Summit to be hosted by France in 2026 . Campaigns developed by students contribute to the existing and potential collaborations between France and New Zealand in the aerospace sector. Student campaigns are developed within COMS330 Module “Global Contexts” (taught by Prof Natalia Chaban). COMS330 is coordinated by Dr Tara Ross.
