Congratulations to UC percussion student, Sho Kubota for being awarded the Cecily Maccoll High Achiever Award for 2026.
Sho will be using the funds from this award to attend the 2026 Great Plains Marimba Competition/Festival in the United States.
“The Cecily Maccoll High Achiever Award will be vital in contributing to my finances to attend the 2026 Great Plains Marimba Competition/Festival. This international event, held in the United States, offers masterclasses with world-class percussionists, ample networking opportunities, and valuable feedback from the competition jury. After performing in the live semifinal round in 2024, I am extremely excited to attend this event again and potentially take my successes further!”
